This was facilitatory as his headmaster was inspiring. He went to Harvard university which gave him his independence and taught him how to handle things on his own. His background was also helpful and unaccommodating too.
He got poliomyelitis at the age of 39 in 1921, and was paralysed from the waist down. This caused him to understand the worries and fears of ordinary Americans because it would of gave him empathy for people who were finding life difficult and intriguing because he could relate to them.
